PHUN Area of Interaction: Human Ingenuity Unit Questions: How can I learn from trial and error, so I can improve my situation? Requirements:
Take the test on Skyward. This is due Wednesday. Create a new page on your wiki and name it "PHUN".
Spend one day investigating PHUN.
Spend 5 days creating a Rube Goldberg, cartoon, game etc.
Your project should be about 15 minutes. I will negotiate on the time, but you need to prove to me that your project is amazing! I will mainly be checking your effort and and time that you put into this.
Be creative.
Take at least 4 screen shots and upload them to this page. Look at the rubric below, so you understand how you will be graded.
Have "PHUN" - ha, ha!
STEP 1: INVESTIGATE a. Identify the Problem: 1. How does the Design Cycle apply to your project, life, and society? a. Project: By using the design cycle, we can develop, create, and troubleshoot our phun. b. Life (Think future jobs): The design cycle can be used in any workplace and project. c. Society: Many things have been created with the design cycle. 2. Identify the problem: We have Phun. and we need to buil a project using this resource. b. Develop the Design Brief: 3. What is PHUN? Physics Fun 4. How does PHUN teach you about physics? It is a Physics simulator. 5. Experiment with PHUN for at least 20 minutes. Okay. c. Formulate a Design Specification - The Design Brief Continued: 6. List all the requirements you must meet to create the Rube Goldberg Machine: 7. How will you be graded on this assignment? Through IB 8. What did you learn about PHUN? It is pretty complicated. 9. Are you going to create a Rube Goldberg, cartoon, or game? Explain your idea: cartoon, where bears drown in a swimming pool of blood. (relates to the gothic unit we are currently on in English class. STEP 2: ATTITUDE 10. Were you motivated and independent? Yes. 11. Were you respectful during the entire unit? Very. 12. Did you work the entire time? Yes. 13. Were you ever a pain in the fanny to Bradfield or other students? Not that I know. 14. Were you a whiny-baby? Nope.
Answer the unit question: 11. How can I learn from trial and error, so I can improvemy situation? (Think about mistakes you made while working on your PHUN project. How did making mistakes help you improve your project? How can making mistakes in your life actually improve your life? If you make a mistake, and you don't learn from it what is the point of making it? Answer this question with complete sentences and in a paragraph.) Mistakes can often tell you what not to do. For example, Edison tried over 2,000 combinations of filament in lightbulbs, until he found one that worked. We learned by trial and error that liquefying large objects will result in complete and utter failure.
